El presente artículo hará un breve recorrido por las raíces de solidaridad y unidad que se desarrollaron en América Latina a partir de los primeros proyectos integracionistas e independentistas del siglo XVIII y XIX. Dicho recorrido, permitirá analizar el carácter integracionista e internacionalista de la Revolución cubana y su política exterior. Se abordarán en clave socio-histórica, dos aspectos esenciales de larga duración: Primero, la tradición solidaria, humanista, revolucionaria y anticolonial arraigada en la sociedad cubana y latinoamericana. Segundo, la actual vigencia del pensamiento de José Martí y Simón Bolívar en los programas integracionistas de la política exterior cubana y venezolana. Para lo cual, se aplicará un diseño metodológico cualitativo que permitirá comprender cómo se desarrolló en la región, a partir del fenómeno de la colaboración médica cubana, un proceso dinámico de integración e intercambio articulado por distintos movimientos y organizaciones internacionales. A ello apunta este trabajo, a brindar un estudio crítico y poco abordado desde el campo de las ciencias sociales acerca del carácter internacionalista y solidario de la política exterior de Cuba, se tendrán en cuenta los factores estratégicos que buscó amparar a escala regional e intercontinental.

This article will make a brief journey through the roots of solidarity and unity that will develop in Latin America from the first integrationist and independence projects of the 18th and 19th centuries. Said tour will analyze the integrationist and internationalist character of the Cuban Revolution and its foreign policy. Two long-lasting essential aspects will be addressed in a socio-historical key: First, the solidarity, humanist, revolutionary and anti-colonial tradition rooted in Cuban and Latin American society. Second, the current validity of the thought of José Martí and Simón Bolívar in the integrationist programs of Cuban and Venezuelan foreign policy. For this, a qualitative methodological design will be applied that can understand how a dynamic process of integration and exchange articulated by different international movements and organizations developed in the region, based on the phenomenon of Cuban medical collaboration. This work aims at this, to provide a critical study and little approached from the field of social sciences about the internationalist and solidary nature of Cuba's foreign policy, taking into account the strategic factors that it sought to protect on a regional and intercontinental scale.
