La importancia de este estudio para la clínica psicopedagógica, se debe a que “los pacientes con epilepsia tienen mayor riego de presentar problemas cognitivos que la población no epiléptica”, (Portellano 2007), siendo más frecuente su presencia antes de la adolescencia. Los estudios realizados hasta la fecha respecto del rendimiento cognitivo de niños con epilepsia, han considerado fundamentalmente las manifestaciones clínicas y neuropsicológicas, en la atención, memoria, percepción y lenguaje, complementándolo con características de la interacción social.
Siendo que, la Cognición Social (CS), es un proceso cognitivo que permite interpretar adecuadamente los signos sociales y responder de manera apropiada en consecuencia, consideramos la importancia de su inclusión y estudio, para elaborar el perfil cognitivo del paciente y guiar la práctica psicopedagógica adecuada, tanto para la prevención como en la intervención de los problemas de aprendizaje.
Con el presente trabajo, nos propusimos la evaluación de la CS en niños con epilepsia en la franja etaria de 5 a 12 años, seleccionando instrumentos ya existentes y diseñando otros, adecuados a la población del, SAOP (Servicio de Asistencia y Orientación Psicopedagógica) de la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad Nacional de Lomas de Zamora y áreas de incidencia.
Con los datos aportados por la investigación pretendemos demostrar que la epilepsia incide en el normal desarrollo del proceso de CS.

 
 

The importance of this study for the psychopedagogical clinic is that "patients with epilepsy are more likely to have cognitive problems than the non-epileptic population" (Portellano 2007), being more frequent before adolescence. The studies carried out to date on the cognitive performance of children with epilepsy have mainly considered the clinical and neuropsychological manifestations in attention, memory, perception and language, complementing it with characteristics of social interaction.
Being that, the Social Cognition (CS), is a cognitive process that allows to properly interpret the social signs and respond appropriately accordingly, we consider the importance of its inclusion and study, to elaborate the cognitive profile of the patient and guide the psychopedagogical practice adequate, both for prevention and in the intervention of learning problems.
With the present work, we proposed the evaluation of CS in children with epilepsy in the age group of 5 to 12 years, selecting already existing instruments and designing others, appropriate to the population of the SAOP (Service of Assistance and Counseling Psychopedagogical) of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the National University of Lomas de Zamora and areas of incidence.
With the data provided by the research, we intend to demonstrate that epilepsy affects the normal development of the CS process.
