Este artículo desarrolla dos de las concepciones del sujeto moderno que han tenido gran influencia en la constitución de las identidades tanto en ámbito del conocimiento como en el ético-político. En primer lugar, se despliegan los rasgos característicos de la concepción cartesiana que ha resultado hegemónica, sobre todo gnoseológicamente, en el curso de la modernidad hasta nuestros días. En segundo lugar despliega la teoría de Locke, que si bien no ha tenido la influencia de la anterior, señala un camino alternativo para pensar la identidad en condiciones “postmodernas”, sobre todo políticamente.

This article develops two of the conceptions of the modern subject that have had great influence in the constitution of the identities both in area of the knowledge and in the ethical - political one. First, shows the features typical of the Cartesian conception that has turned out to be hegemonic, especially in knowledge, in the course of the modernity to the present day. Secondly explain Locke's theory, which though it has not had the influence of the previous one, indicates an alternative way to think the identity about "postmodern" conditions, especially politically.
